The angular anisotropy is illustrated by the image below. To compute for angular anisotropy, three essential parameters are needed and these parameters are Normal Anisotropy at Angle 0° (Ro), Normal Anisotropy at Angle 45° (R45) and Normal Anisotropy at Angle 90° (R90).
The formula for calculating the angular anisotropy:
R =Â (R0Â + 2R45Â + R90)Â /Â 4
Where:
R = Angular Anisotropy
R0 = Normal Anisotropy at Angle 0°
And then, R45 = Normal Anisotropy at Angle 45°
R90 = Normal Anisotropy at Angle 90°
Let’s solve an example;
Find the angular anisotropy when the normal anisotropy at angle 0° is 4. the normal anisotropy at angle 45° is 6 and the normal anisotropy at angle 90° is 3.
This implies that;
R0 = Normal Anisotropy at Angle 0° = 4
R45 = Normal Anisotropy at Angle 45° = 6
And then, R90 = Normal Anisotropy at Angle 90° = 3
R =Â (R0Â + 2R45Â + R90)Â /Â 4
R =Â (4 + 2(6) + 3)Â /Â 4
So, R = (4 + 12 + 3)Â /Â 4
R =Â 19Â /Â 4
R = 4.75
Therefore, the angular anisotropy is 4.75.
